Chub Lake Ranch has been in the family for three generations. It started as undeveloped, forested land. The first generation to start the ranch immigrated to Canada from Belgium. Once in B.C. they worked tirelessly to build a house, clear the trees, plant productive fields, and raise a herd of cattle. Since then, the two generations after them have continued to work everyday towards improving the fields, building a strong Hereford/Angus herd, and creating a more sustainable way to farm. The new sustainable ways include an Environmental Farm Plan, rotational grazing with cattle, using no-till methods for improving a crop, utilizing natural fertilizer (manure), and using mechanical methods to eradicate invasive and noxious plants instead of chemical methods.
Our ranch is in the South Cariboo region where we find peace in the quiet woodlands and valleys. We strive to not only be sustainable in our practices but to encourage other farmers and ranchers to do the same.
